Wednesday’s Child is a social enterprise ‘purpose-driven business’, reinvesting profits into supporting those with eating disorders, and other mental health issues.
Born out of the founder’s experiences of adult mental health care and anorexia, it has at its core a subscription and gift box model, enabling the purchase of carefully curated gifts for those who need a well being boost or gesture of kindness.
The business also delivers events, training, certification programmes, supportive coaching activities for those in the midst of an eating disorder, and a vocational portal to enable a supported return to work or education.
Our approach ensures enhanced global understanding about eating disorders and aids the ability for others to become cheerleaders in someone’s desire for mental health recovery.
Wednesday’s Child’s curated boxes are equally beneficial to those experiencing any level of mental health frailty or well being vulnerability. We work with GPs, charities, schools, universities and HR professionals in commercial organisations to ensure our considered gifts could serve a purpose in their effort to convey empathy.
Our journey with Shout About Suffolk began when our founder, in her ‘other’ professional remit as a PR consultant, met with Toby and Paddy to discuss their publicity news ahead of the business’s launch.
On sharing her thoughts for a ‘potential idea’ to aid mental health and the recovery of those with eating disorders. Shout About Suffolk were quick to welcome Wednesday’s Child on board as a member of The Lab.
In my 25 plus years of work as a frontline GP, I always felt there was so little to offer to my patients with emerging eating disorders, or to those still on the recovery journey. Wednesday’s Child sends ‘kindness in a box‘, but it also provides a whole range of other initiatives, all within a supportive framework and community.
